Daniel S. Addison began his career in the industry as a member of the architectural firm of Archie Royal Davis, A.I.A., in Durham, North Carolina. During the twelve years that Dan remained with the Davis firm, his responsibilities included residential design work, writing specifications and acting as liaison between the builder and the home owner. It was during this time that Dan first became interested in the interiors of these projects, embarking on his career as an interior designer.

In 1969, Dan was asked to develop an interior design department for a major department store chain. As Dan’s reputation as a designer grew, influential firms in the industry began to take notice and within a few years, he was asked to join the Claude M. May Company, the most prestigious decorating firm in the North Carolina area. While working with the clientele of Claude May, Dan developed an appreciation for antique furniture, oriental carpets and accessories. Dan Addison earned his membership to the A.S.I.D. (American Society of Interior Design) in 1980. After more than a 26 year career with Claude May, Dan formed Daniel S. Addison Designs, LLC in 1997.

In the past 20 years, Daniel Addison has become one of the most sought after interior designers on the east coast. Known for his eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary styles, he has built a client base that includes both residential and commercial design. Some of Dan’s more notable projects include:

In addition to these projects, Dan has also designed several homes in the Cedars Retirement Community of Meadowmont in Chapel Hill, NC, apartments in New York as well as throughout Florida and South Carolina.

In early 2008, the firm of Daniel S. Addison Designs relocated to a new facility which was designed exclusively with the client in mind. Incorporating an immense sample room, as well as a retail showroom, Dan Addison and the staff of Daniel Addison Designs are able to continue to meet the custom design needs and desires of our clients in a full service atmosphere.

While the location may have changed, both new and returning clients will continue to receive the same attention to detail and look of timeless elegance that they have come to expect from Dan Addison for more than two decades.
